A Femfessional is a savvy business woman characterized as positive, open-minded, driven, professional, ambitious and desirous of forming strong strategic connections with similar minded professional women to benefit each other personally and professionally and to benefit their community. Not only is she motivated to succeed, she is passionate about the success of others around her. A Femfessional is giving of herself and more than willing to help when she is needed. She wants to make an impact in the world, starting with the betterment of her City, and grow as a business professional and a woman. She is quite remarkable!
Welcome to Femfessionals
For the longest time I had envisioned creating an organization that was fresh with its approach in connecting business women; one that would be diversely represented and innovative in its resources. My mission was to establish a circle of unity where professional women would assist and support each other in the business world. My focus at the time was naturally Miami, my hometown and beloved community. In the spring of 2009, I shared this "idea" at an impromptu lunch with a select group of colleagues (Erika, Marita, Sara, Nikol, Jennifer). The women listened intently and provided their amazing feedback and immediate thoughts. By the end of that lunch, it was decided that I along with the women that were there, would host a lunch.
I hadn't anticipated the positive response to our first official lunch nor had I envisioned then, the potential impact a lunch could have on the professional women in my community. Throughout the months that followed the first lunch, more and more women embraced the "idea" with insight and suggestions. By the end of 2009 and the start of 2010, Femfessionals had started to change from an "idea" into a business concept. For all the professional women of Miami, the Femfessional events were becoming the "go to place for connections". In addition, this little "idea" was catching the eye of other cities. My business attorney, Jessica Passman, who had been a part of Femfessionals since our second lunch, had now become my business partner. We then created an amazing team of women who were instrumental during our creation phase. In the Summer of 2010, the Femfessionals Organization was officially established. Jessica and I spent countless months creating an "out of the box" business structure and a training process to easily expand Femfessionals not only nationally, but internationally. During that summer, the Femfessionals movement began.
We would like to share our deepest gratitude to the ladies of PIL Creative Group for creating our perfect logo and the ladies of Inkberries for creating our beautiful website. In addition, to our dedicated Board of Advisors and the women of Miami, our sincerest appreciation for being the original Femfessionals.
